“GUIHULNGAN CITY RIZAL MONUMENT History

 

First Rizal Monument was built on the year 1919 during the leadership of Town President Restituto Villegas But The monument was built thru the generosity  of the people of  GuIHULNGAN  in the fundraising event and supported by the familiers of the Geopano, Villegas,Bernus,de la Vina, Hermoso and the Aglipay Church.

This picture is the City’s Original Rizal Monument or first Rizal Monument was built on the year 1919.

When the monument was inagurated it was attended by our liberator of Negros Oriental Don Diego de la Vina and rest of the Geopano Clan with Dona Narcisca Geopano de la Vina, Dona Milagros Geopano Hermoso,  Pelagio Villegas.,Restituto Villegas,Dimas Geopano and Gov. Enrique Cayetano Teves Villanueva .

The Geopano Clan was one  who  funded to established a Rizal Monument in Guihulngan with the helped of the Aglipay Church, UCCP CHURCH,and Freemason Don Espiridion Villegas. 

Second picture this Monument of Rizal was erected outside the Guihulngan City Auditorium or the local’s call “GYM” before it was transferred to the new park along the boulevard

 

The Freedom Park and Rizal Monument was rebuilt and restored in the year 2012. This is the new place of the Rizal Monument located at the Center of the Park which the local’s call “Freedom Park”. The year that the City’s Rizal Monument was relocated on the Park along the boulevard. The relocation took place on the year 2012 after the Municipality of Guihulngan was changed over into a City by Republic Act 9409 and was proclaimed established on the 11^th day of April year 2011. 

August 26, 2019 update of this park, on going renovation. and some of the area of this park is improved , clean, fresh air from the ocean, and more landscape to finish.
