Today, we gather to celebrate unity, collaboration, and progress, as we work together towards the betterment of our beloved municipality.

On this auspicious occasion of the 125th Philippine Independence Day, we gather to commemorate the remarkable journey of a nation steeped in rich history, steadfast in its pursuit of freedom, and poised for a promising future. This year's theme, "Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan," encapsulates the essence of our nation's journey, highlighting the significance of our freedom, the limitless possibilities that lie ahead, and the importance of embracing our collective past.

"Kalayaan" embodies the spirit of independence that courses through the veins of every Filipino. It serves as a reminder of the countless sacrifices made by our forefathers, who valiantly fought against colonial rule, giving birth to a nation free from the chains of oppression. It is a testament to our unwavering resolve to protect and nurture the democratic ideals that continue to define us as a people.

As we reflect on our journey, we must also look to the future with unyielding optimism and a strong sense of purpose. "Kinabukasan" represents the boundless potential that awaits us. With advancements in technology, the nurturing of innovation and creativity, and a growing global presence, the Philippines stands on the brink of unprecedented opportunities. We must harness our collective talents, strengthen our institutions, and invest in the education and empowerment of our youth, for they are the custodians of our nation's destiny.

However, as we navigate the complexities of modern times, we must not forget our roots and the lessons taught by our history. "Kasaysayan" reminds us of our cultural heritage, the struggles we have overcome, and the unity that has sustained us through the ages. It is a call to preserve our diverse traditions, protect our natural resources, and embrace the principles of inclusivity and social justice. By understanding our past, we can forge a future rooted in resilience, compassion, and equitable progress.

As we celebrate this momentous occasion, let us also pay tribute to the men and women who have tirelessly worked to uphold our nation's values and promote the welfare of its citizens. From the heroes of the past to the heroes of today – the front liners, the educators, the artists, the innovators – it is through their unwavering commitment that we can continue to shape the narrative of our nation.

Let the 125th Philippine Independence Day serve as a reminder of the remarkable journey we have embarked upon, the possibilities that lie before us, and the responsibility we bear as stewards of our nation's destiny. Together, let us forge ahead with unity and determination, drawing inspiration from our shared history, celebrating our hard-earned freedom, and embracing the limitless potential of our future.

As inheritors of a legacy forged by heroes, we entrust upon you the responsibility to shape the future of our nation. Embrace the values of freedom, resilience, and unity, and let them guide your path toward a brighter tomorrow. Empower yourselves through education, innovation, and active participation in nation-building. Encouraged our youth to be involved with Civic-patriotic organizations like Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Eagles Club, Knights of Rizal ,Red Cross, and Freemasons Your voices matter, and your dreams have the power to transform. As we commemorate our history, let us march hand in hand toward a future where our aspirations become reality. Mabuhay ang Kabataang Pilipino!

During one of my visits to the National Archives of the Philippines, I stumbled upon the name of a local hero from Dauin, Capitan Domingo Delfino. It was an incredible moment of discovery that filled me with immense pride. Today, I want to honor his memory and the impact he had done this  community. His bravery and contributions will forever be remembered as an inspiration for generations to come.

Today, as we stand on the precipice of a new era, let us honor the legacy of our past, shape the trajectory of our future, and reaffirm our commitment to the Philippines which is truly free, prosperous, and resilient. Happy 125th Philippine Independence Day!Mabuhay ang Dauin ,Mabuhay Negros Oriental &  Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
